Bobbleheads, Permits, Parades, and Beers…

Aly, Gab, Ty, and Greg sat down yesterday after work at the Landmark for a quiet drink and chat about the efforts that are underway.

Permits and Street closures: Sarah Powers met with Ellen Fragola from the Downtown Raleigh Alliance and Sgt. Medlin of the RPD who oversees street closures. It looks like we can close Fayetteville Street without much trouble, but there is still a question as to how early on Friday we can close it. Aly is following up with Sgt. Medlin to solidify the times.

Morgan Street looks like a no go. In the interest of traffic patterns the city is against it.

We will be reaching out to Karen Seiber of the Farmers Market at Moore Square to find out how the permits work with food and general vendors since we are trying to host it on Fayetteville Street.

There is some energy/interest brewing from the Glenwood South district. Samad of Mosaic is looking to rally the Glenwood businesses and possibly develop a parade from Glenwood to SPARKcon in Downtown! We are reaching out to see how we can help in this effort.

Gab has volunteered to undertake the construction of the new grafSPARK painting modules for our graf artists this year. Thanks Gab!

brewSPARK? Why not, we have gourmetSPARK and chileSPARK. Any ideas or interest out there? Greg is looking to see if some of the local breweries would be interested in joining forces, or maybe we have a call for entries to all the home brewers out there to come and put their creation to the test!

fashionSPARK is well on the way already. Allison has hit the ground running! Looking to use the Downtown Event Center on Martin and Salisbury for prep and logistics for the fashion show. There was also an idea to have hairSPARK. A hair as fashion/art that could work along side with fashionSPARK.

There was also some discussion about danceSPARK and tapping into the rich culture of social dance that exists in the triangle. Looking to link with Raleigh Typhoon, Alleykats, and 1511 on Mayview to be a part of the happenings on Fayetteville Street.

So many ideas, so much energy, and its only the beginning of June!

On On!
