Shedding light on permits

So here is what we know so far.

Karen from the Farmers Market, and Downtown Raleigh Alliance who was instrumental in organizing a lot of our vendors for bazaarSPARK was able to give some insight on the permit process.

All of the vendors at the Farmers Market have their produce/product inspected by the Dept. of Agriculture before it hits the stands. This bypasses the Health Dept. and therefore doesn’t require a vendors permit.

The same goes for food or pre-made items that are packaged and inspected before arriving on site to be sold.

If you want to actually prepare food, at an event, in public, on the street then a permit via the Health Department is required, and along with that comes a lot of requirements for water, electricity, facilities, etc.
