fashionSPARK meeting (6.29)

Hello,
fashionSPARK met last night.  We discussed our call (out 6/15) and media outreach done thus far.  All designers from last year received the call and were invited to submit.  We’re brainstorming ways to reach the call beyond Raleigh to Chapel Hill & Durham.  Please email me with suggestions or contacts.

Regarding the screen issue, I spoke with Rick Bryda at TPS.  He suggested contacting (here’s where it gets fun and super-easy) a “company in Wake Forest – don’t know name – that deals in inflatable, outdoor video screens.”  So, I’m going to research that a bit.  If ANYONE knows this company, please come forward.  fashionSPARK can take the lead on contacting for quote, availability, etc.  We’re also on the hunt for a place to stage.  It will have to hold designers, models, stylists, photographers, volunteers & staffers.  Options include The Mahler Gallery, a larget tent backstage or . . . we welcome other thoughts/offers.

Our projected budget is larger than last year’s because of the screen (a shared expense) and builiding in the added expense of a video/editing team in order to have a finished product apres show.  Two fundraising events are tentatively planned: 1) Screening of fashionSPARK 2008 and designer announcement, July 24th, venue TBD., 2) Fashion mixer (in place of brunch), Poole’s Diner, date TBD (early September, probably).  Fundraising targets include retail shops/boutiques, maybe salons, and anyone desiring to finance the show. . . We discussed selling VIP tickets/passes that include a ticket to the mixer and also reserved seating at the show. 

Other items of note: shopSPARK will be back, we’re on the hunt for a DJ for the show, and our facebook group + twitter will be updated this week.
